Beauty and the Beast at The Exchange 1856 in North Shields was unforgettable. The cast delivered phenomenal performances, with special mentions to Amelia Cavagan, who shone brightly in the role of Belle, and Danny Emmerson-Ducasse, who delivered a captivating performance as Beast.
Astravaganza returning favourite Deborah Taylor-Smith touched our hearts as Mrs Potts, delivering the beloved title song to perfection, and was accompanied by the ever-endearing Chip, portrayed skilfully by Leo Humpherys.
Lewis Wilkinson truly captured Gaston’s characteristic arrogance, delivering a performance that was both engaging and entertaining.
A special mention is due for the producer Liam Glendinning and Director David Ducasse. Their combined efforts led to a show that wowed the audience, a clear testament to their understanding of their audience’s expectations.
The “Be Our Guest” number was particularly memorable, drawing everyone in the audience into a delightful sing-along. The children in the audience were visibly thrilled, and the ensemble’s performance added depth and richness to the show.
The audience was not just captivated but emotionally moved from the opening scene to the final curtain, as evidenced by the extended standing ovation after the show. The opening night was received by a full house, and it certainly didn’t disappoint, leaving everyone eagerly anticipating the next performance.
